Jorge M. Abril
Managing Partner and Founder
Jorge M. Abril is the Founder and Managing Partner of Abril Law, where he has spent more than three decades representing healthcare providers, businesses, and creditors in complex litigation and revenue recovery matters. Since founding the firm in 1991, Jorge has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to hospitals, physician groups, rehabilitation facilities, behavioral health providers, ambulatory surgery centers, and healthcare organizations navigating high-value reimbursement disputes, managed care litigation, commercial litigation, and sophisticated post-judgment recovery.
Jorge's career in healthcare finance began before law school while working with critical care physicians at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles. That early exposure to the financial and operational challenges facing healthcare providers sparked a lifelong commitment to helping organizations protect and maximize the reimbursement they have rightfully earned.
After earning his undergraduate degree from California State University, Jorge returned to South Florida to attend the Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University, where he earned his Juris Doctor. During law school, he was a member of the National Moot Court Team and Moot Court Society, serving as the organization's Business Manager. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1988 and to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 1989.
Prior to founding Abril Law, Jorge served as a senior trial associate with a prominent South Florida litigation firm, where he represented the United States in the recovery of federally guaranteed loans and developed extensive courtroom experience through the successful litigation of hundreds of cases. That trial foundation continues to shape his strategic, results-oriented approach to complex commercial and healthcare disputes.
Today, Jorge's practice centers on healthcare reimbursement litigation, managed care disputes, insurance underpayments, contract enforcement, ERISA litigation, commercial litigation, and advanced post-judgment collection strategies. Throughout his career, he has represented healthcare providers in disputes involving commercial insurers, governmental payers, reimbursement methodologies, contractual payment obligations, and complex revenue recovery matters. His litigation experience extends to proceedings supplementary, fraudulent transfer actions, asset recovery, judgment enforcement, and other sophisticated creditor remedies.
Jorge is a frequent lecturer and author on healthcare reimbursement, managed care litigation, ERISA, healthcare collections, and post-judgment remedies. He regularly advises healthcare executives, revenue cycle leaders, and legal professionals on emerging payer trends, reimbursement strategy, and complex recovery initiatives.
Known for his strategic counsel, practical business judgment, and unwavering commitment to client success, Jorge has spent more than 35 years helping healthcare organizations and businesses resolve their most challenging financial and legal disputes. His experience, leadership, and innovative approach continue to position Abril Law at the forefront of healthcare reimbursement and commercial litigation throughout Florida and across the country.
